Do you want to know how to fill a raised garden bed and still save money?

Try the Hugelkultur method! I used it in my new metal raised garden bed and cannot believe how much less soil I used!

This method is a way to layer your bed with organic matter BEFORE adding soil. It is extremely cost effective and environmentally friendly!

Start the layering process in this order:

  • Larger tree logs on the bottom (40%)
  • Branches and sticks (20%)
  • Plant waste – leaves, grass clippings, etc. (25%)
  • Compost (10%)
  • Soil on top (5%)

See the materials I used below.

Additional benefits include improved soil conditions and better water retention!
